Mitchell, Gingerich & Loquaci, a Professional Corporation, is the successor firm to Mitchell, Burrow &
Gingerich and Mitchell, Stock & Burrow, which was formed in 1971. The firm handles a wide variety of
business and commercial litigation cases, including breach of contract, insurance litigation, trust and
probate litigation, personal injury litigation (both plaintiff and defense), inverse condemnation,
workplace-related claims and administrative mandamus actions.
While the major portion of the firm's practice involves cases in the immediate Bay Area, the firm
represents, or has represented, clients in other Northern California counties including Santa Cruz,
Monterey and San Benito.
LITIGATION PRACTICE AND PHILOSOPHY
Upon acceptance of a new case, a thorough review of the matter is conducted followed by a "suit
review letter" with recommendations as to proposed course of action. Thereafter, each case is reviewed
periodically and a status report is provided, if requested, including a summary of all depositions,
interrogatories and relevant documents obtained during the discovery phase of the case. If a client
desires a different protocol, the firm will alter its internal procedures accordingly.
When appropriate, the services of consultants or experts are retained at the outset of a case to assist
in the evaluation. Continuity in case management is essential to the successful resolution of a case in
a timely and economical fashion.
Laurence B. Mitchell (deceased), a founding member of the firm, and Joseph Gingerich (retired),
epitomized the trusted legal advisor and skilled advocate who zealously represented the interests of
Stephen E. Loquaci, Esq., has continued this firm tradition. He is married and father of two sons. Mr.
Loquaci graduated with high honors, in 1973, from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a
Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1976, he obtained his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Santa
Clara School of Law. While attending law school, Mr. Loquaci clerked for the Honorable Edward A.
Panelli (Retired), Judge of the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Mr. Loquaci has been a member of
Mitchell, Gingerich & Loquaci, a Professional Corporation, since 1997. Prior thereto, he was associated
with Smith, Loquaci & Bently (Menlo Park), Nelson Perlov & Lee (Los Altos) and Thoits, Lehman & Love
Mr. Loquaci's practice emphasizes civil litigation, including business litigation, personal injury litigation
(both plaintiff and defense), trust and probate litigation, inverse condemnation, workplace-related
claims and administrative mandamus.
